Here’s How It Works

1. Assessment

Your decorator inspects the deck and identifies any boards with rot or significant damage. Your decorator also checks that balustrade posts are structurally sound. Your decorator flags anything that needs replacing before painting starts.

2. Cleaning

Decks are pressure-washed to remove algae, dirt, and any loose material. Your decorator allows the deck to dry fully before applying any product: typically at least 24 hours in dry weather.

3. Preparation

Old paint or varnish that is failing is stripped or sanded back to sound timber. End grain on posts and board edges is given additional attention at this stage.

4. First Coat

5. Second Coat and Anti-Slip

Should I stain or paint my deck?
